Studio portrait of local pioneer A.W. Haselwood. Alfred William Haselwood left England for Canada on March 18, 1897, with his wife Catherina (nee Robinson); their five children Ernest, Millie, Alfred Kitty, and Winnie; and his father, Thomas. They arrived in Wetaskiwin, Alberta on April 5, 1897, and settled in the Roseland district of Gwynne. A miller by trade, Mr. Haselwood built a grist mill in the early 1900s and a flour mill in 1906. In 1933 the grist mill burned down, but was later rebuilt. Mr. Haselwood passed away on June 3, 1934 at the age of 76. Information gathered from the Gwynne History book "Treasured Memories.<br><br>
