History

Waterloo College Invitation Games was an annual track and field meet for high schools, collegiate, and continuation schools of central Ontario. Waterloo College sponsored the event in an effort to develop track and field sports among secondary schools in the area, and to promote enrollment in the college. The competition featured events for both male and female athletes, and concluded with a banquet and awards presentation ceremony. The first Invitation Games were held in 1935. In support of the war effort the Invitation Games were suspended from 1941-45, and resumed in 1946.
