The fonds consists of militia service rolls for the years 1893, 1896, 1900 and 1912 for Westmorland County. The service rolls for the years 1893, 1896, and 1912 include the recruits' age, place of residence, and date of enlistment. The 1900 roll is incomplete and provides only the men's names and corresponding rank.

The fonds also contains photocopies of issues of "The 8th Hussar" newsletter, published weekly by the 8th Princess Louise (NB) Hussars (Vol. 1, #1, 26 August 1945 – Vol. 1, #14, 24 November 1945 inclusive).

Fonds consists of diaries kept by Alice Bulmer and a clipping. The diaries date from late 1920 to mid 1938, and include: records of eggs laid, 1922, 1923 and 1935; eggs sold, 1923; raspberries sold, 1931; a list of members and minutes of an unidentified church meeting, ca. 1938. Clipping is: "Interesting suggestion made by A.W. Bulmer, well known Aulac resident", probably from "The Sackville Tribune", 1945, regarding a suggestion for developing the resources of the Chignecto Isthmus.

Harper and Allen families

This collection consists primarily of personal records of Duncan S. Harper, Sadie Harper Allen, and Frank Allen. It includes 7 diaries of Sadie Harper, covering the years 1890-1898, along with a transcription of each, as well as the original and a transcription of 22 letters written in 1912 by Sadie Harper Allen to family members while she was travelling with her husband in England (London, Manchester, Ambleside, Stratford), Scotland (Edinburgh, Glasgow), and Switzerland.

The writer offers a portrait of pre-war Britain, recording her impressions of the suffragettes, her visit to the House of Commons to hear Prime Minister Asquith, British customs, and of dignitaries attending the Imperial Universities Congress in London. There are 3 additional letters written by Sadie Allen to her family, a letter from John (Jack) Allen to Bill commenting on Sadie Allen's 1912 letters, and Aunt Nellie's account of Sadie and Frank Allen's 1912 trip to Europe, written for publication in a New Brunswick newspaper. Transcriptions of the latter 4 letters are also included.

The collection also includes the original and a transcription of the diary of Duncan Small Harper in which he records details of his 1889 European tour, made primarily in search of medical help for his debilitating muscular disease.

Lastly the collection contains a brief curriculum vitae of Frank Allen; 2 poems composed by him; Allen and Harper families genealogical information; obituary notices for both Frank and Sadie Allen; a newspaper article on Professor Frank Allen, "an inspired physicist;" and photographs of Frank Allen (1912) and Sadie Harper Allen.

The diaries and letters were transcribed by the donor, Lillian B. Allen, prior to 1977.

Harper, Allen (family)

The fonds consists of historical and biographical notes and manuscripts, correspondence, and printed material. The notes focus on the early history and settlers in Westmorland and Albert counties. There are biographical notes of the first English speaking settlers in Salisbury parish, including the Babcock, Beck, Blakeney, Eagles, Chapman, and other families.

Humphreys' correspondence with W. F. Ganong, 1927-1928, and 1929-1936, primarily discusses nomenclature of places in New Brunswick, mostly Westmorland and Albert Counties. There is an unpublished manuscript of ""History of the Petitcodiac"" by J.E. Humphreys which includes an index of major topics. A copy of an unfinished manuscript titled, "The History of Albert County" by W.C. Milner is included along with the author's notes. This work was published by the New Brunswick Museum in 1989.

There are also some publications written by W.F. Ganong, 1900-1928, dealing with the nomenclature of places and the origins of the boundaries of New Brunswick.

Collection contains photocopies of genealogical notes on the Teed, Ayre, and Hanington families of Westmorland County, New Brunswick, compiled by John F.H. Teed between ca. 1941 aand 1971. They were sent to his grandson Scott Gillis, Middleton, Nova Scotia, with an accompanying letter.

This fonds consists of the business and financial records of the Read Stone Co. Ltd. as well as family correspondence and other personal records. It includes minutes of meetings, correspondence, letterbooks, general ledgers, day books, cash books, accounts receivable and accounts payable ledgers, order books, sales invoices, survey records, bills of lading and other shipping records, invoices, accounts, receipts, bank books, cancelled cheques, draft notes, and time books. Family records include correspondence, diaries, photographs, and material pertaining to the Independent Order of Foresters.

There are also brochures, labels, advertising boards, catalogues of various suppliers, almanacs, grindstone and rock samples. Lastly the fonds includes several annual reports and statements of the Dominion Steel Corp. and British Empire Steel Corporation (1920s), issues of the journals, The Maritime Merchant (1920s) and the Contract Record & Engineering Review (1910s), and a copy of an unpublished thesis entitled, "The Cumberland Basin grindstone industry by James D. Snowden," (1972).
