Most of the documents were apparently found in Ikin's cabin by the subsequent owners, Henry L. Sheppard and Ruth Maccoy. The accession from Ella Connors may have been collected by her father, Roy L. Fowler.

The fonds consists of William Ikin's military commission, assignment of power of attorney to his sister (1884), tax assessment notices, invoices, business correspondence, land transfer agreements, photocopy of agreement for sale of cattle from Daniel Courtney to John Ware (1888), cancelled cheques (1901-1908), union card of A. McCullough (1904), petition urging Henry N. Sheppard to run for mayor (1909), agreement for sale of hotel furnishings to H.N. Sheppard (1909), statement of properties owned and calculation of net worth (1913), photocopy of land records of the Ikin-Jones house (1902-1977), photographs of ranching activity and of the Sheppard-Maccoy house
