Biographical history

Né dans la paroisse de St. Lawrence Jewry, Londres, le 23 décembre 1819, William Kingsford est le fils de William Kingsford, aubergiste. Soldat, journaliste, ingénieur civil, fonctionnaire et auteur, il obtient le poste d'arpenteur municipal de Montréal en 1832 et il reçoit sa commission d'arpenteur le 2 novembre 1844. Il épouse, à Montréal, le 29 mars 1848, Maria Margaret Lindsay. De cette union naissent deux enfants. Il meurt à Ottawa le 29 septembre 1898 à l'âge de 79 ans
