Biographical history
The William Woodman family arrived in Nanaimo in 1887 and included wife Annie and daughters Ada, May, Annie, Sarah and Lizzie. May began teaching at age 16 and later received her teacher's certificate at the Normal School in Vancouver. May Woodman taught at Nanaimo schools for forty-three years.
